Malek Akkad, producer of the two Halloween sequels directed by Rob Zombie, and associate producer of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, recently shared new detail on Halloween 3 with Collider during the Saturn Awards that fans of the original classic will be delighted to hear.

Although, Malek couldn’t say much about the ongoing Halloween 3 project, he did however reveal that the sequel will return to the “classic” style, rather than going “dark” like Zombie’s Halloween II.

I can’t talk about it too much right now, it will definitely keep elements and bring in new elements. But I really want to bring it back to kind of like, the classic – because the last one got a little dark – I want to bring it back to the classic Friday night horror film that people will really like.

In addition, Malek also touched on Halloween 3D, which seems to be put on the back burner for now.

Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier did a script. The next day after the last one came out, we were back in production for Halloween 3D. We were about two weeks from going down to Louisiana to shoot it, and for whatever reason the studio thought we were maybe moving a little bit too quickly. I disagree. I think we had a great script and a great team, and it would have been a massive hit. But right now we’re currently working on a new script for Halloween 3 so it’s all in the works right now.

Lastly, make sure to check out our previous coverage on casting for Halloween 3. We’ll continue to bring you new updates in the very near future, so stay tune on Yell! Magazine.
