It’s safe to say that Aliens: Colonial Marines ruined the Alien franchise due to poor development by Gearbox Software, who apparently outsourced the game to other developers. In the end, fans of the franchise got an unforgettably crappy product that even actor Michael Biehn (Aliens, Terminator, Navy Seals) called it a “passionless” effort by the developers.

SEGA, who is currently still responsible for publishing video games under the Alien brand, is actually working on a new installment titled Alien: Isolation. Possibly an effort to erase any memory of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The new game has been in development by Creative Assembly since 2011, and a number of new screenshots, including gameplay footage have been released. Just from that I can tell you that Isolation looks sharper than ever and scary as hell, and is nothing like Colonial Marines. Keep in mind, this one is in line with Ridley Scott’s film, and not James Cameron’s sequel.

Alien: Isolation is expected to drop later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
