Dread Sovereign Unleash Some Wicked Doom Metal

Dread Sovereign - All Hell's Martyrs

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Dread Sovereign is gearing up for the March release of their debut full-length album on Ván Records, All Hell’s Martyrs. The album, on the heals of last year’s 12″ release Pray to the Devil in Man and a debut live performance at Roadburn 2013, is reportedly as doom-laden and evil as the first promo track that was unveiled today. Check out “Cthulu Opiate Haze” in the player above, you won’t regret it if you’re a doom metal fan.

Dread Sovereign All Hells MartyrsVocalist and bass player, Nemtheanga commented:

Things come together fast on the surface but the DREAD SOVEREIGN album has been dwelling in my subconscious for years, playing riffs to myself over the years. It’s only in the last fifteen months that I’ve put flesh on the bones with a proper band and here we are with an album ready for Ván Records to release. The aspirations are difficult to explain as it’s been a form of catharsis to finally get the demons out after all this time but here it is; some gnarled and evil old school doom/metal — a few surprises and different elements here and there — but nothing more and nothing less.

The wicked and decidedly evil album cover art was done by Costin Chioreanu, who’s also done artwork for Grave, Darkthrone, Aura Noir, and Absu.

Also check out the totally badass lyric video for “Thirteen Clergy to the Stake” from Pray to the Devil in Man:

If you’re thinking that Dread Sovereign is a band worth investing in, as we are, then place your pre-order for a CD and/or LP version of All Hell’s Martyrs right here.

Dread Sovereign is:

Nemtheanga (vocals & bass)
Dubh Sol (drums)
Bones (guitar)

The band describes themselves as “a triumvirate of old-school attitude and arcane spirituality. Although retaining the rugged, epic drama of Primordial (in which Nemtheanga and Dubh Sol both perform), Dread Sovereign is distinctly different, blending influences of Venom, Saint Vitus, and Cirith Ungol in the raw underground cult doom idiom.”
