Diego Brandao proved to the world that he is a beast in thefeatherweight division when he defeated Dennis Bermudez, and won The Ultimate Fighter 14 in 2011. Although Brandao suffered a loss at UFC 146, he rebounded quickly with three consecutive wins afterward. His latest challenge was at UFC Fight Night 26 last week, and he picked up a win by unanimous decision over Daniel Pineda. It was the same night UFC featherweight stepped inside the Octagon for the second time since his debut in April, also winning by unanimous decision, dominating Max Holloway standing and on the ground.
Following McGregor’s win, his coach, John Kavanagh, issued a challenge for him and wants the Brazilian to face the Irish prospect next at UFC 168: Silva vs. Weidman 2. Brandao responded and accepted the challenge on Tuesday’s edition of UFC Tonight with Ariel Helwani.
I’m in the UFC to fight the best. Everybody knows that my dream is to become the UFC champion. I already won The Ultimate Fighter, now I’m going after the title.
Brandao also added that it would be perfect to fight on the same card as, which is coming up at the end of the year.
I always liked challenges, and I believe a fight against McGregor would be a good challenge for me,” he said. “If he wants to fight me, I also want to fight him. Hey, McGregor, let’s make it happen. It would be perfect for UFC 168 in Vegas. I wanna do a great show.
If this fight happens, who is your pick to win the fight?
