UPDATED: Cung Le Tests Positive For Excess Levels Of HGH At UFN 48

Overnight, one of the most respected middleweights in the UFC lost all respect for being cheat at UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau, China. Following the 5-round fight against Michael Bisping, a post-fight drug test was conducted by the UFC in which the former STRIKEFORCE middleweight champion Cung Le tested positive for excess levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH). You heard that right! Positive for a performance-enhancing drug (PED) that is considered almost as bad as steroids.

According to an official UFC announcement yesterday, Le will serve a twelve-month suspension and will require to pass another drug test before competing again.

UFC middleweight Cung Le tested positive for an excess level of Human Growth Hormone in his system following his fight at UFC Fight Night in Macao, China on August 23. Due to his positive test result, Le was suspended by the UFC and notified that he violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. Le will serve a twelve-month suspension and, at its conclusion, will need to pass a drug test before competing in the UFC again.

Prior to UFN 48, Bisping expressed repeated concern that Le is on some kind of drug, the English mixed martial artist was right. Bisping still ended up defeating Le in a one sided fight via TKO in the fourth round.
