CREATURE is yet another delicious up-and-coming monster flick we recently discovered through our twitter account. Apparently some -fueled fans are already mixing up this film as a remake to the ’50s classic Creature from the Black Lagoon. After reading the official blog, however, first-time Fred M. Andrews clearly states that he was only inspired by the prehistoric beast. Andrews also took the original script conceived by writer Tracy Morse further and suggested that the killer (Lockjaw) become the creature. Although the original idea of a serial killer with alligator teeth wasn’t such a terrible idea either.
Based on a Q&A with Fred M. Andrews, the idea of a creature has been kicking around inside his creative mind since 2000. Whereas he started a graphic novel back in 2009 called BLOOD FOR BLOOD to nail out the back story of the monster. So the origins on Lockjaw should be pretty much well thought out, or so we hope.
The cast in CREATURE stars the young and sexy actress Serinda Swan (TRON: Legacy), actor Pruitt Taylor Vince (Natural Born Killers), and the menace we all love from low-budget exploitation films, Sid Haig (The Devil’s Rejects).

In CREATURE, six friends are on their way to New Orleans for a memorable adventure, but their road trip soon turns into something none of them will ever forget.
The group – Niles (Mehcad Brooks), a Navy SEAL finally home from combat; his shutterbug girlfriend, Emily (Serinda Swan); her brother and Marine, Randy (Aaron Hill); Randy’s main country-bell squeeze, Beth (Amanda Fuller); trickster Oscar (Dillon Casey); and his sister, Karen (Lauren Schneider) – is taken on a detour into Lockjaw Country after visiting a rustic gas store owned by a congenial hillbilly named Chopper (Sid Haig).
He tells the tale of a fabled god-like creature who haunts the depths of the swamps and insists they all must check out the old Beautine shack where the monster was born. Their faith is put to the test when Lockjaw turns out to be more than just a myth and they realize the locals are hiding a terrible secret that jeopardizes them all.
Directed by Fred M. Andrews, CREATURE gives new meaning to the expression “tourist trap” and introduces a monster legend that is just the beginning.
