Candiria Leave A Lot To Be Desired On “Wandering Light”

This probably won’t make me popular with any Candiria fans, especially given the band’s longevity and past critical praise, but the new “Wandering Light” track from the album While They Were Sleeping is lacking in many ways. For one, the jazzy, avant garde structure sounds amateurish and like so many other bands when they’re just starting out. It sounds like someone said this at one point, “Hey, we all play pretty good, let’s try to write a song!”

Additionally, the vocal melody sounds way off, as if Carley Coma doesn’t know when to come in.

I will say, however, that when things slow down for the bluesy breakdown it gets a lot better.
