GameStop‘s Senior Vice President of Merchandising Bob Puzon just contradicted publisher Activision on pre-order sales for the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts. Back in August, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg stated that pre-orders are “well below” the record-breaking pace of Call of Duty: Black Ops II because it’s a transition year for consoles, he noted. Even though there isn’t any actual fact on whether or not Ghosts will set a new record, the game is still on track to be the most pre-ordered title of the year, according to video game retailer GameStop.

Puzon said:

Call of Duty is an entertainment juggernaut and cultural phenomenon. We are excited for the upcoming release of the new installment of this blockbuster franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts. We look forward to celebrating the worldwide November launch of this great game that is on track to be the most pre-ordered title of the year.

In addition, GameStop, in partnership with Activision, also announced that they will offer a discount price for Eminem’s new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 to those who pre-order COD: Ghosts, which launches at the same time as the album. A code will be given at launch that will allow buyers to download a special edition of the album for $9 redeemable until November 19.

COD: Ghosts will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360, Windows PC, and Wii U on November 5, 2013, and will be published in Japan by Square Enix on November 14, 2013.
