Butcher Babies Battle Demons In “Magnolia Blvd”

The Butcher Babies just dropped the first video from their debut full-length album, Goliath. The album landed the band at No.1 on the Billboard New Artist/Heatseakers chart upon its July release.

The video for “Magnolia Blvd” was directed by Daniel Gomez (Eyes Set to Kill, Buckcherry) and produced by Marco De Molina and the Veva Entertainment Company. Interpretations of the video will vary, but they way I see it, it’s about the soul-eating aspect of the music industry and how many find not-so-healthy means to cope. These people then spend the majority of their time chasing their demons until they become them. The video has a nice Tyler Durden moment at the end.

It’s no secret that the Butcher Babies started out in a way that turned off a lot of people (while also turning on a lot of red-blooded males), it’s nice to see that they’ve walked away from that image… an image we were instructed not to bring up by their management when we interviewed the Butcher Babies in January 2013. Now, the band relies almost solely on their musical chops, which has always been good and real — even if there’s still a sexy element to their image by default.

The band has had a meteoric rise and, by all appearances, it seems like it’s been an easy ride for them, but rest assured, it has not. They’ve had to work hard to get to where they’re at, if not doubly so since they have to battle ignorant fucks who say they only got there because of their tits.
